The new year is approaching quickly. While you are probably busy with holiday activities, it’s not too soon to be making resolutions for 2017.

Here are a few common-sense preventive things you can do that will pay off down the road in terms of a healthy mouth and fewer visits to the dentist:

Brush at least two times a day for two minutes and floss at least once. If you’ve been a hit-or-miss flosser until now, make a commitment to becoming an avid flosser in 2017.

Eat well-balanced meals—Research shows a direct link between the amount of sugar a person eats and the amount of tooth decay he has. Replace fast food and sugary drinks with a variety of healthy foods in your daily meals.  Substitute fruit, nuts and celery or carrot sticks for sugary snacks.
